Queen Mary I (QMI)

The Queen Mary I war service record was from March 1940 through September 1946. Her wartime statistics state she carried a total of 765,429 military personnel. On one voyage the Queen Mary carried 15,000 troops at one time. She ferried wounded returning to the USA.

The Queen Mary I sailed a total of 569,429 miles (916,407 km). She transported W.Churchill three times and carried 12,886 G.I. brides & children. The Queen Mary resumed peacetime passenger service on July31, 1947. They retired her from regular passenger service on September 19, 1967 after completing 1,001 Atlantic crossings. Her last cruise 9:30 departed on Tuesday, October 31, 1967 where the Queen Mary arrived in Long Beach, California on Saturday, December 9, 1967. She was removed from British registry and officially turned over to The City of Long Beach on December 11, 1967.
